Business Spotlight: KBI Staffing Solutions

March 29, 2021 | In Business Spotlight

This month’s business spotlight shines on KBI Staffing Solutions. KBI Staffing Solutions, LLC has the tools to connect companies with the best recruits and connect applicants with the right jobs for all of their qualifications.

What is your primary product or service?

KBI Staffing Solutions LLC is a multifaceted minority woman-owned firm offering a variety of staffing services to industry leaders in Florida and surrounding states. KBI offers jobs to the community and a workforce to companies looking to supplement the workforce.

What do you think makes Central Florida a special place to do business?

Central Florida is unique in its ability to be a large and diverse and yet close nit. Business leaders are able to get involved in both business and community. KBI is extremely involved in the lives of our employees and the community at large. We can see the difference that we are making in the community that we call home.

Who is your target market/audience?

Our target audience is anyone looking for a job or a company looking to supplement its workforce. KBI’s niche markets are construction, hospitality, and administrative but we have also branched out and worked within the health field, waste & recycling management, as well as payroll processing and management.

In your opinion, what makes Central Florida's business community special?

Central Florida is unique in its ability to be a large and diverse and yet close nit.

What is the most exciting thing you see happening in your industry?

With the recent COVID-19 pandemic, the business has been turned on its head in some regard. No longer are we at ease about having an in-person meeting which hinders personal connection in some ways. As the state begins to relax on regulations, we are starting to get that personal connection back. Things are still different, and we all need to be cautious in meetings, groups, and gatherings but at least we are starting to shift the culture back to a more connective atmosphere.

What is the biggest benefit of joining the AACCCF?

The opportunity to network with like-minded business leaders. In an industry such as staffing, any connection can be an opportunity to help another business grow by providing the manpower necessary to take things to the next level. KBI provides both temporary and permanent placement which allows for us to tailor a staffing package to the needs of the client.

Do you have any current promotions, upcoming events, or recent accolades that we can promote?

KBI Staffing Solution owners Kenneth and Tiffany Hughes were recently featured on the cover of the February 12th, 2021 issue of the Orlando Business Journal and received the “2020 Fourth Quarter Model Member” award from Associated Builders and Contractors – Central Florida

Central Florida is a special place to do business because of the diversity and world-class hospitality and entertainment industries. Furthermore, the mix of small businesses and large multinational corporations make Central Florida a unique place to do business. We have been blessed to work with start-ups and well-established multinational corporations. Central Florida is also a great hub for identifying and recruiting new talent entering the workforce. The schools and universities located in the area provide opportunities for recruiting some amazing local talent.

Who is your target market/audience?

Our target client is anyone in need of photography, videography, or live-stream services. We have two target audiences: Business clients and individual clients.

For our business clients, we understand the impact visual media has on their brand perception, as well as, their bottom line. We work with our business clients to determine the right investment to fit their needs.

For our individual clients, whether it’s a wedding, graduation or anniversary gala, we take the time to understand the vision for their big day. We partner with our clients to make sure their personality and confidence radiate as they memorialize one of life’s greeted achievements.

In your opinion, what makes Central Florida's business community special?

What makes the business community special is the fact that everyone is very welcoming and wants to see everyone succeed. We had no idea how to grow our business but heard the relationships built through the chamber could really accelerate our growth. We have been able to partner with local businesses, as well as provide services to those in need. COVID-19 impacted many local businesses in the central Florida area, and we were able to provide free promotional videos for small businesses to help get them back on their feet once businesses started to re-open.

What is the most exciting thing you see happening in your industry?

Companies and individuals are all competing for our attention. Every ad, photography, commercial has been well thought out and is intended to grab your attention (and money). We have been introduced to numerous photography and production companies through the chamber. Instead of competing against each other, we have actually supported each other and referred business to one another.

Additionally, the AACCCF does an amazing job of making sure its members stay informed on current events and resources that are available. When COVID-19 impacted the Central Florida Community, the AACCCF adjusted and prioritized the concerns and needs of its members.

Business Spotlight: Cakes Beyond the Realm

This month's business spotlight shines on Cakes Beyond the Realm. We sat down with owner Alicia Garland to learn all about her unique business!

What is your primary product or service?
My primary products are “faux” cakes for any occasion!

"They are covered with real icing, real gumpaste sugar flowers, smell delicious, and are less expensive than real cakes" - Cakes Beyond the Realm Facebook

What do you think makes Central Florida a special place to do business?
By Central Florida being the home of Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, and a host of major hotel chains, it is one of the event meccas of the US. This affords businesses an awesome opportunity to be innovative and creative while prospering in the special event/hospitality arena.

Who is your target market?
My target market includes individuals and organizations seeking beautiful cakes that are beyond the ordinary. Creations that exceed the creative boundaries of traditional cakes, while saving money at the same time.

In your opinion, what makes Central Florida’s business community special?
Central Florida’s business community has a unique opportunity to take advantage of an event-driven industry that has a host of opportunities for businesses to provide products and services many other communities aren’t privy to. Also, there is a strong Chamber presence in the Central Florida area (such as the African American Chamber), thus allowing great networking experiences (within your chamber, others outside of the chamber, and between chambers).

What is the most exciting thing you see happening in your industry?
I see an immense opportunity for the “faux” cake industry to expand for several reasons:
  • The ability to use decorations that are prohibited on traditional cakes (ex, crystals, metals, & other organic materials which can illuminate and heighten the cakes)
  • The ability to see the final product far in advance of your event to assure satisfaction
  • The structural integrity makes the cakes stronger and less susceptible to cracking or falling providing sustainability in inclement weather
  • Average of 40% in savings to the customer
  • Gift as a keepsake or sell your cake (as opposed to walking away from the investment in a traditional cake which is rarely consumed entirely).

What is the biggest benefit of joining the AACCCF?
The biggest benefit derived from joining the AACCCF has been the ability to meet so many kinds of considerate and truly caring individuals who show a sincere interest in your success by introducing you to others and providing resources to help you advance.

Do you have any current promotions, upcoming events, or recent accolades that we can promote?
I was recently featured in Mr. Russell Drake’s #BHMUpgrade (October 2, 2020), and I have taken advanced cake decorating certification courses from the world-renowned pastry chef and artist Nicholas Lodge.

Business Spotlight: Heidi Haye

What is your primary product or service?

Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Bookkeeping, Tax preparation, payroll, and business advice.

What do you think makes Central Florida a special place to do business?

Central Florida is a large metropolitan area with so many opportunities for different industries. We have the population to support so many
different businesses!

Who is your target market/ audience?

After spending several years assisting large businesses with a national firm, I'm honored to concentrate on small businesses and help them grow and operate like any other large corporation.

In your opinion, what makes Central Florida’s Business community special?

It is amazing to see how many businesses in Central Florida do charitable work. It is not just donating money, but also getting out
and donating time. It speaks to character of the business owners that make up our landscape.

What is the most exciting thing you see happening in your industry?
The accounting industry is embracing leveraging technology to be more efficient and service our clients in more ways than ever before. Small business owners should be able to focus on running the business. I love using these tools and technological advancements to keep their finances in order.

What is the biggest benefit to joining the AACCCF?

Obviously, the referrals. The membership pays for itself. My client base is primarily direct referrals from the Chamber or clients finding me through the Chamber’s website.

Do you have any current promotions that we can promote?

For any parents with children under 22, I am preparing the child’s tax return for $50 when the parent files
their tax return with my office.
